CGC Inc. Marks Grand Opening of New Wheatland County Facility

Congratulations to CGC Inc. on today’s ribbon cutting and grand opening of its new wallboard manufacturing plant in Wheatland County.

This significant investment marks an exciting milestone for our region, creating new jobs, supporting economic growth, and strengthening service across Western Canada.

We are proud to celebrate this achievement and the positive impact this new facility will have on Wheatland County and the surrounding region.

Thank you to CGC and all partners involved in making this project a reality. We look forward to the opportunities this investment will bring to our community for years to come.

Road Closure Notice – TWP 250

Please be advised that TWP 250 will be closed between RR 215 and RR 214 from June 15 to July 13, 2026, to allow for the realignment of the TWP 250 and RR 214 intersection.

During this time, a detour will be in effect to help motorists safely navigate around the construction area. Residents and travelers are asked to plan ahead, allow for extra travel time, and follow all posted signage.

Proposal:

To close a ± 1.60 hectare (± 4.00 acre) portion of Range Road 264 to public travel between NE-8-22-26-W4M and NW-9-22-26-W4M, to facilitate the consolidation of the road allowance into the adjacent lands.

Please contact the County Office if you would like an opportunity to review the documents prior to the Public Hearing.

Comments may be forwarded in writing to Wheatland County or in person at the above meeting. The application files may be reviewed in the County Office during regular office hours – Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Any comments provided will become part of the public record in accordance with Section 13(1) of Alberta’s Protection of Privacy Act. Rosebud Flood Study Underway

Wheatland County residents are advised that the Government of Alberta has launched the Rosebud Flood Study for the Rosebud River. The study will assess flood hazards along 7 km of the river within Wheatland County, in and around the Hamlet of Rosebud. The study conducted through the province began in spring 2026 with technical work expected to be complete by spring 2027. 

Residents can follow project updates through Alberta’s Flood Hazard Identification Program website at www.floodhazard.alberta.ca or www.alberta.ca/flood-hazard-identification-program.

The province has also advised that municipal review and public engagement will be part of the study finalization process.

Grain Bag Rolling Program Complete Until Fall

Wheatland County’s grain bag rolling program is now complete for the season. As County crews begin roadside mowing operations, the grain bag rollers will be stored until fall.

Producers with any remaining grain bags are asked to store them on-farm until the program resumes in the fall.
