TWP 224, from RR 264 to RR 265, is expected to re-open by December 22 following the bridge replacement project.
Once reopened, the bridge will be open to traffic, with a temporary speed reduction in place (50 km/h) at the bridge crossing.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure improvement is completed. Please drive with caution and obey posted signage.
October 6, 2025: TWP 224, from RR 264 to RR 265, will be closed from October 20 to early December 2025 for a bridge replacement project.
A detour route will be in effect, and local traffic access will be maintained throughout the project.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation while this important infrastructure improvement is completed.
UPDATE:
Highway 1 has now reopened, and traffic is resuming through Wheatland County.
The reception centre at the Wheatland County Administration Building will close at 4:00 p.m. Thank you to all partners for their coordination and support.
Travelers are encouraged to continue using caution as conditions may change.
Due to deteriorating weather conditions, travel is not advised at this time. Residents and travelers are urged to stay off the roads for their safety.
A reception area is open at the Wheatland County Administration Building and is available for travelers should they need support as a result of highway closures.
County staff are coordinating closely with the RCMP and emergency partners and will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as more information becomes available.
Please stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel.
Motorists are advised that Range Road 223 (between Hwy 561 and TWP 250) will be closed on Tuesday, December 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to allow for bridge repairs.
