Mowing and Spraying Program

The Agriculture and Environment Department is responsible for mowing and spot spraying along municipal roads and weed control in hamlets, parks, cemeteries, waste transfer stations, and gravel pits. Wheatland County operates a unique system which allows for simultaneous mowing and spraying.

2025 Roadside Mowing & Weed Spraying Schedule

Wheatland County ASB staff will begin mowing Vegetation and spot spraying weeds of all municipal roadsides in mid-June. Weeds will be sprayed with Milestone herbicide (PCP #28517), Clearview herbicide (PCP #29752) and Navius Flex herbicide (PCP#30922). The following schedule gives an approximate date of when the mowers/sprayers will be in listed Grader Beats (GB). To determine which division you are in, see the Grader/mower Divisions Map.

Seeding and Reclamation

The Agriculture and Environment department is responsible for grass seeding of ditches and borrow areas associated with road construction and assisting public works with soil erosion control of ditches and borrow areas associated with road construction.

Haying Permits

Anyone wishing to hay municipal road right of ways must complete an Access and Work Agreement by June 30th
