Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Services provides mapping solutions for all aspects related to the County. In addition to mapping, the GIS division is also responsible for Wheatland’s rural addressing system.
Rural Addressing
Addressing is integral to the County’s Geographic Information System and the 911 emergency response system. Regular addressing updates are forwarded to the 911 control center to ensure that they have the most current information and are able to effectively co-ordinate a response in all emergency situations.
Canada Post does not yet utilize these rural addresses to route mail in Wheatland County.
House numbers are assigned by the County and become active upon the issuance of Building Permits in the case of new construction
