UPDATE: Rosebud Flood Study Underway
Wheatland County residents are advised that the Government of Alberta has launched the Rosebud Flood Study for the Rosebud River. The study will assess flood hazards along 7 km of the river within Wheatland County, in and around the Hamlet of Rosebud. The study conducted through the province began in spring 2026 with technical work expected to be complete by spring 2027.
Residents can follow project updates through Alberta’s Flood Hazard Identification Program website at www.floodhazard.alberta.ca or www.alberta.ca/flood-hazard-identification-program.
The province has also advised that municipal review and public engagement will be part of the study finalization process.
Update – August 2026: The Government of Alberta has advised that the Rosebud Flood Study is progressing as scheduled. Technical work is expected to be complete by spring 2027. A public study update notice outlining progress and current work is available below.
