Public Notice – Range Road 243 Paving & HWY 1 Acceleration Lane
Construction Period – Week of June 19th 2023 to July 2023 (subject to change)
Wheatland County has contracted Aecon Group Inc. to undertake the enhancement of approximately 800 meters of RR 243, extending from the intersection with HWY 1 in a northern direction, transforming it into an asphalt pavement. Additionally, as part of this project, an eastbound acceleration lane will be constructed on HWY 1, while the driveway of the Wheatland County Administration building leading to the public parking lot will also be paved.
Schedule
Construction is scheduled to commence as weather conditions permit during the week of June 19, 2023, and crews are expected to be working until mid to late July 2023. The contractor will be operational seven days a week, excluding statutory holidays, between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
Items to note:
- Work will be restricted to the road Right-of-Way.
- Paving at the Administration building will be done outside of office hours to avoid interruptions
- Access to local properties will remain available throughout construction
- Road approaches will be reconstructed to County standards. The contractor will coordinate this work directly with affected businesses/residents to minimize disruptions.
Traffic Impacts
RR 243 will remain open with restrictions during construction. Access to local properties will remain available. All traffic in the construction zone will be directed by various traffic control signage. Precedence will be given to emergency vehicles. Emergency access will remain available throughout the duration of the project.

The contractor will reach out directly to property owners to review and coordinate specific impacts or other project-related details as required.
