Division 6 Councillor

I was elected for Division Six on a by-election held on Monday June 23, 2003. The by-election was called as a result of the former Councillor David Kenny moving into the Village of Rockyford, therefore becoming ineligible to be a councillor in Wheatland County.

I have lived in this division since 1953–the year I was born.  I have been happily married to Lois since 1973.  Together we have raised our four children: Brenda, Terryll, Ian, and Robin. We live on our family farm, three miles west and a mile north of Rockyford.  We are also proud grandparents of three beautiful little girls and two handsome boys.

I have enjoyed farming and raising our children with my wife Lois.  We are active in our community and have been involved in the many organizations that make up rural life in Alberta.  I enjoy my time as councillor and welcome the new challenges it entails in this rapidly changing period of time.

Wheatland County is adjacent to one of the fastest-growing regions of Canada and we have to come to grips with some of its own growing pains.  Rapid change is the new reality we all have to face.  In order to reduce the stress on our bodies that is created from rapid change, we have to move from predicting change to creating it.  We have to take charge.

If you have any concerns or ideas for the future of Wheatland County I would appreciate hearing from you.  I can be reached through the Wheatland County office.

Regards,
Glenn G. Koester
Division 6 Councillor
