Planning

What is a Subdivision?

Subdivision is changing the size of a parcel of land or creating new parcels to obtain a separate title. If this is something you are planning on doing, you will need to complete a subdivision application. We recommend that, once you have a good idea about what you want to do, you contact our planning department to set up a pre-application meeting. Our planners will make sure you are making the correct application, and that you understand all that will be required. Come with your questions—we are happy to help!

What is a Redesignation?

Redesignation is the process of changing the land-use designation of a parcel or parcels of land zoned in the Land Use Bylaw. Land owners who wish to pursue activities on their land that are not permitted under their land use will be required to apply for a land use redesignation.

Before you apply for a  permit, come see us!

We will go over the application with you, to be sure it is complete and correct…so you don’t have to do it twice! We are happy to work with you on this, so the process is an easy one. You can phone us to set up a meeting time, at 403-934-3321, or fill out the applicable online appointment request form, and we will get back to you with a time that works. Be sure to indicate your preferred day of the week, and best time.
