Speargrass Community Fire Pit Application

A Speargrass Community Fire Pit Permit allows members of the public to utilize approved fire pits in public areas for small gatherings. Applications are submitted online on a first come first serve basis at no cost to the applicant.

The Speargrass Community Fire Pit Permits are subject to cancellation in the case of a Fire Ban being issued for the area. For further information please email fireservices@wheatlandcounty.ca

• All Wheatland County Bylaw’s must be followed.
• Permittee is responsible for the safe control of the burning herein authorize.
• A minimum of one (1) adult capable of extinguishing a fire, must be in attendance all times.
• Sufficient tools, equipment and quantities of water must be readily available for the size of burn being conducted. This includes a shovel and minimum of 5 gallons of water.
• The fire must be completely extinguished by specified time.
• Notify your local Fire Dispatch half-hour prior to burning and upon completion of burning at 403-934-2911.
• Permit MUST be produced upon request by fire personnel, or by a Peace Officer at the site.
• Spark Arrester must be in place while fire is burning.
• Fire must be contained within the designated fire pit.
• Only clean lumber and paper may be burnt.
• No gasoline or other flammable gases may be used to start the fire.
• Alcohol and cannabis are not to be permitted/consumed on Wheatland County property.
• Ensure that fire is located a minimum of three (3) meters away from any combustibles.
