Wheatland County Council Approves 2026 Final Budget
On April 7, 2026, Wheatland County Council approved both the 2026–2030 Capital and 2026–2028 Operating Budgets.
Property taxes fund key services that residents and businesses rely on every day, including roads and transportation, emergency services, agricultural programs, utilities, and community supports. The 2026 Operating Budget includes a 6.58% increase in Wheatland County property tax revenue to support the continued delivery of these essential services and programs.
Wheatland County Tax impacts vary by property type:
- Residential: 3.55%
- Farmland: 3.55%
- Non-Residential & Machinery/Equipment: 7.51%
In addition to Wheatland County Taxes, the provincial education property tax requisition has increased by:
- Residential & Farmland: 13%
- Non-Residential: 14% (Machinery/Equipment are exempt from Education Property Tax)
The education property tax is set by the Government of Alberta and collected by municipalities on their behalf.
