Become an subdivision and development appeal board member!

Are you passionate about the decisions shaping your community’s growth and development? If so, here’s your chance to make a real impact—apply to join the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB)!

Wheatland County is on the lookout for enthusiastic residents from Division 2, Division 6, and Division 7 to join the SDAB team. Don’t live in these areas? No problem! We still encourage you to apply and show us why you’d be a great fit.

The SDAB is all about handling appeals related to subdivision and development decisions, following the Municipal Government Act, along with any other tasks set by Wheatland County bylaws or policies. Members serve for three years and meet as needed, whether during the day or evening.

Once you’re appointed, you’ll complete online training through the Land & Property Rights Tribunal (don’t worry—it’s covered, and you’ll be compensated for your time!). Members also receive financial compensation for attending appeal hearings.

Curious about the training? Check it out here: https://www.alberta.ca/subdivision-and-development-appeal-boards-training.aspx

Want to learn more? Reach out to Wheatland County’s SDAB Clerk, Michelle Van Haarlem, at (403) 361-2000. Ready to step up? Send your letter of interest to sdab@wheatlandcounty.ca.
