As part of the approved Capital 5 Year Road Construction Program, Wheatland County will be reconstructing and paving 6 miles of RR 243 south of HWY 1 to TWP 232.

Upgrading the road is required due to high traffic volumes,  and hazardous conditions created by the narrow existing roadway.

Reconstructing and widening this road will improve the overall safety of the roadway, and paving will increase useability by allowing use of heavy truck traffic, relieving pressures on the surrounding gravel road network.

Project Milestones

  • Preliminary Design: 2026
  • Detailed Design: 2027
  • Construction: 2028
