Rail Safety Week: June 15-21, 2026
Wheatland County Council has officially proclaimed June 15–21, 2026, as Rail Safety Week in support of the national campaign to raise awareness about rail safety and help reduce incidents involving trains, tracks, and railway crossings.
Rail Safety Week is an important reminder that railways are a vital part of our transportation network. Whether driving, walking, cycling, or operating equipment near railway infrastructure, everyone has a role to play in staying safe around tracks and crossings.
Residents are encouraged to remain alert and follow all rail safety signs and signals at all times.
Rail safety reminders:
- Never stop on railway tracks.
- Obey all railway crossing signs, signals, and gates.
- Expect a train at any time and from either direction.
- Never walk, cycle, or drive along railway tracks except at a designated crossing.
- Stay a safe distance back from tracks and moving trains.
Wheatland County encourages staff, residents, and visitors to take a moment during Rail Safety Week to review safe practices and help promote awareness throughout our communities.
