Pesticide and Fertilizer Container Recycling Program

Effective May 1st, 2023, all pesticide & fertilizer jugs brought to Wheatland County Transfer Sites, or participating Agriculture Retailers, must be cleaned and placed in bags prior to acceptance. Site Operators and jug distributors offer bags to ratepayers for this purpose. It is essential to follow these guidelines to ensure your containers can be properly recycled.

Follow these 3Rs to ensure that your containers are accepted:

1. Rinse – Triple or pressure rinse to ensure no product is wasted. Review our container rinsing procedures for details*.
2. Remove – Remove caps and booklets (place in garbage); leave the glued-on label. Remove metal handle from fertilizer pails.
