New Outdoor Rink Guidelines

As per the Province’s guidelines for outdoor winter recreation, Wheatland County has recalculated and revised the maximum capacities at the following outdoor rinks:

  • Carseland Rink: maximum 50 people
  • Cheadle Rink: maximum 45 people
  • Lakes of Muirfield Rink: maximum 47 people

Signage has been posted at each facility reiterating the new maximum capacities.

Visitors of outdoor rinks must comply with all applicable public health orders and gathering restrictions, and maintain physical distancing of 2 metres between individuals not from the same household.

To ensure the safety of children, families and communities, individuals should take precautions when visiting outdoor facilities, such as public rinks, as these facilities do have some risks. Children may find it difficult to avoid touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. This can lead to the spread of the virus to equipment, other children, and other families.

Here are some basic tips to keep yourself and your family safe:

  • Practice proper hand hygiene
  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Refrain from touching your face with unclean hands
  • Visit facilities close to home

Remember, if you are sick, you must stay home.
