New Battery Recycling Program at Wheatland County!

Wheatland County has joined Call2Recycle, Canada’s national battery stewardship program, meaning it’s now even easier and safer to recycle your household batteries at our Transfer Stations!

Here’s what residents need to know:

What you can recycle:

• Single-use batteries (AA, AAA, 6V, 9V, C, D, button cells)
• Rechargeable batteries (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, Ni-Zn, Lithium-Ion, Lithium Primary)
  (All must weigh under 5 kg — see accepted types in our website update.)

A small change to our process:
Some batteries require terminal protection (tape or bagging) before drop-off — especially lithium and button cell types. This helps prevent sparks and ensures safe transport.

Where to recycle:
All Wheatland County Transfer Stations now accept household batteries under the new program. Look for the updated signage on-site!

Why this matters:
Recycling batteries keeps hazardous materials out of the landfill and supports a safer, more sustainable community.
