Wheatland County's New Economic Development Officer

Patrick Earl, Wheatland County’s new Economic Development Officer, has been working in the economic development field for over 12 years in large counties and rural communities in the Alberta Capital region and east-central part of the province. His most recent post was as an Executive Director for the Economic Development and Tourism agency for the District of Hope in British Columbia.

Mr. Earl comes from a visual communications and public relations background, which had added value into his projects in economic development. He has worked at community, economic development and tourism branding for marketing. He also designed and facilitated agricultural, oil and gas, and tourism value-adding initiatives. These initiatives were for working at connecting business to sourcing and customers and investment attraction.

He has won five Economic Developers of Alberta awards for economic development projects and an Economic Developers of Canada award for branding in communities he has worked with.

In Hope BC, Mr. Earl worked at projects related to tourism product development and marketing and working at regional partnerships through sport, eco, indigenous and agricultural tourism and attracting new industry and small business to the community. He managed the 10th busiest visitor centre in the province and connected the community through partnering with other regions and businesses along the highway corridors into the Okanagan, Fraser Valley and Canyon.

Mr. Earl is excited to promote and explore the assets of Wheatland County and the region and work at enhancing the economic opportunities under the foundational work that has happened, relating to community desires around planning and strategy.
