Media Release - New Community and Development Services Brand

Media Release

For Immediate Release

Community and Development Services launches a new brand to promote department activities, market investment, and visitation to the Wheatland County region.

WHEATLAND COUNTY, AB (October 23, 2019) – Wheatland County’s Community and Development Services department has been working on defining processes and welcoming new divisions into its services streams. With the addition of the Economic Development division earlier this year, the opportunity arose to look at the outward facing activities of economic development and relate them to all the divisions within the Community and Development Services department.

It was decided to develop a tactical brand for the department, not only for traditional economic development purposes, but also to promote development efficiencies and the emphasis on customer service to residents and potential investors, and tourism product development in Wheatland County. The brand name, WC, with the tagline “infinite landscapes – infinite possibilities” will help define Wheatland and highlight the potential of the region.

The brand will be promoted within its own website and social media channels along side the existing Wheatland County website and social media. These communication tools will be used to promote business development and visitation with the Wheatland region. The website, infinitewc.ca, has matching hashtags that can be found on social media. All of the mediums will launch at 1 p.m. October 23, 2019.

“This is an exciting time for Wheatland County. We have developed a strategic economic development brand through thoughtful collaboration, led by our department staff with input from Wheatland County Council, key staff, and the valuable insight of our Economic Development Board who represent our business community.” says the Reeve, Amber Link. “We will use this brand to tell our story – to show how future generations will build on our heritage of hard work and innovation. Wheatland County is open for business. We’re here with a renewed focus to support our existing businesses and industry, to add value to our agricultural producers, and to attract new investments, businesses, and visitors.”

Economic Development traditionally is the liaison between business and municipal aspects of planning and development. The new department brand is the story of the symmetry between the opportunities and the processes within Wheatland.

“The branding process has brought the divisions within the department into one train of thought – to focus on customer service to improve and accommodate sustainable development opportunities and to explore ideas that have a potential for success within Wheatland,” stated the General Manager of Community and Development Services, Matthew Boscariol.

The first phase of the brand is to build the Wheatland story of its businesses, attractions, communities, and partnerships. The foundation will be customer service driven and engaging to the stakeholders of the department.
