False Fire Alarm Fees – Effective January 1, 2026
Did you know? Every time your fire panel alarm goes off, the Fire Department is automatically dispatched to your home or business.
Starting January 1, 2026, Wheatland County will implement fees for false fire panel alarms under Bylaw 2025-06 – Fire and Emergency Services.
What is a false alarm?
If firefighters respond and it turns out the call was the result of a non-emergency or faulty alarm system, it is classified as a false alarm.
We do not charge fees when there is an active fire or the fire has been extinguished before our arrival.
Most false alarms can be prevented by properly maintaining or updating your alarm system.
