Cluny Tree Removal

The County will be cutting down 14 trees in Cluny at the location shown in the attached image.  The tree removal work is planned to be completed within the first few weeks of November 2021. The trees have been infested with a pest called the “Poplar Borer” beetle, which weakens the trees and makes them susceptible to unexpected breakage when exposed to strong winds. The arborist hired by the County this past summer discovered the beetle throughout these trees, and recommended the trees be removed. Removal of the trees will help protect the safety of the public, as well as help limit or prevent the spread of the beetle to other trees in the area. From a distance, the trees may appear healthy, but upon closer inspection there are significant signs of the beetle infestation.  In the Spring of 2022, the County plans to plant 9 new trees in the location of the removed trees and will then water the new trees for the following two years during growing seasons.
