Are you passionate about how Wheatland County grows and develops?
Do you want to contribute to decisions that directly impact subdivisions and development appeals in your community?

Wheatland County is seeking engaged and thoughtful residents or landowners to serve on the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB).

As a Board member, you will:

  • Review and decide on subdivision and development appeals
  • Ensure applications align with the Municipal Government Act, County policies, and bylaws

This is a low-commitment role (typically 2–3 appeals per year) with a high community impact.

No prior experience is required, and training will be provided to all successful applicants.

UPDATE – Carseland Cole Crescent Repairs

UPDATE: Due to weather delays, crews will continue to work on deficiency repairs the week of July 7, 2025.  If conditions are favorable, all concrete work should be complete by the end of next week.  Thank you for your patience as we address these items.

June 17, 2025:

Contractors will begin warranty-related concrete repairs in Carseland on June 17, 2025, as part of follow-up work on the Cole Crescent Project and 2022 Sidewalk Program.

While vehicle access will be maintained, there will be temporary impacts to pedestrian access along affected sidewalks. Please follow all posted signage and barriers for your safety while work is underway.

Repairs are expected to take approximately three weeks, weather permitting.

We appreciate your understanding as this warranty work is completed.

Temporary Road Closure – Range Road 221

Please be advised that Range Road 221, between Highway 561 and Township Road 244, will be closed on Monday, May 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to allow for an underground utility crossing.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews complete this important work.

Please plan your travel accordingly and follow all posted signage and detour routes in the area.

Please be advised that Township Road 230, between Range Road 210 and Range Road 211, will be closed on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accommodate an underground utility crossing.

Public Notice: TWP 250 Construction

Wheatland County will be closing public access of TWP 250 from RR 263 to RR 264 starting the week of April 7, 2025 for road upgrades – weather permitting. 

Local and emergency vehicle access will be accommodated as required throughout construction, and traffic will be detoured to TWP 252 for east/west commuters. This closure is expected to be removed by early June 2025. 

Please follow all posted signage and detours while the contractor is on location.”

The Calgary Region Hydrogen Hub (CRH2) launches to drive clean energy innovation, investment, and job creation. Backed by $3 million in funding, CRH2 connects hydrogen producers with industry, supporting Calgary’s climate goals and positioning the region as a leader in the low-carbon economy.

Wheatland County Reeve Amber Link emphasized the County’s role in energy diversification, highlighting its strategic location and resources in advancing hydrogen technology in Alberta.

Public Notice: Goldfinch Raw Water Line Construction

Drilling has commenced for the Goldfinch Raw Water Line north of the Speargrass Water Treatment Plant along Speargrass Blvd, progressing north.  The contractor is expected to reach Highway 24 by the weekend and will be drilling west the week of March 10th

Please follow all posted signage while the contractor is on location.
