Building in the Lakes of Muirfield?

The Home Buyer Protection Act requires builders to provide appropriate warranty coverage. A building permit cannot be issued unless the coverage requirements, or in certain circumstances, an authorization for exemption, are in place.

  • Builders are responsible for making sure the home is enrolled with a warranty provider and that the warranty coverage meets legislated requirements. Homes under warranty must also be registered.
  • Landowners who want to build their own homes can do so with an owner builder authorization and exemption letter. An approved owner builder can choose to build with or without purchasing home warranty.
  • Mobile Home and RTM that have a CSA A277 serial number and will not require a warranty or registration number.
