Dust Control With the increase in vehicular traffic on our gravel roads, there exists an ongoing concern with dust. The intent of the dust control program is to help alleviate dust problems for residents living on gravel roads. The County will organize applications of Calcium Chloride for June and August annually as well as an Oil Method of dust control which will be completed in July of each year. Dust control methods are subject to weather conditions. Wheatland County will retain its’ right to maintain roadways by grading or ripping and repacking. Council will review the dust control rate prior to April of each year and current rates and deadlines will be advertised in the local newspaper and posted on the website. All prices reflect “no-charge” for county staff or equipment. Graveled Secondary Highways fall under the jurisdiction of Alberta Transportation and the County’s dust control prices reflect a charge for the gravel used in the application of dust control on these roads. Since the County already maintains our local gravel roads, no charge for gravel is applied to dust control rates on County maintained roads.
SNOW PLOWING OF PRIVATE LANEWAYSAs of July 1, 2009 laneway snowplowing is a service no longer offered by Wheatland County. However, in order to assist you we have assembled a list of contractors who are available for plowing of private laneways. Please refer to the following contractors if you are in need of snow removal on your private property. County staff will use this resource when ratepayers make inquiries regarding laneway snow removal. Those who wish to have their name put on the contractor list are asked to contact Suzanne Hayes @403-934-3321.
